The R family were visiting from Vancouver on their yearly visit to Hawaii, and this year they wanted family pictures to document their lives here on beautiful Oahu! With each session, my goal is to bring out the best in families in photos that they will adore. And more significantly, I want their photos to be and feel genuine to them. It means getting to know what they want and envision in their photo session, taking our time during the session, and being open and creative to what happens.
From the start, Elyse and Lucas were clear that they wanted photos with a candid and a natural look and feel, and that is what I excel at as a photographer so hearing that was like music to my ears!
Poor little Avery was getting over an illness and while she wasn’t her regular self, I quickly discovered that the best way to get those sweet girly giggles and natural smiles was to take the focus off of me and to just let her interact with her family members. She was tickled, tossed in the air and allowed to just play. It worked and these photos are so charming. Just see for yourself!
