What is giclée?

Giclée (pronounced “zee-clay”) prints are high-quality art prints made using a specialized inkjet printer and archival-quality inks and surfaces. Giclée prints are known for their longevity, value, and quality, and are considered superior to other types of reproduction printing. My prints are certified archival quality and can maintain their color and quality for up to 100 years if displayed at home, or 300 years if stored in the dark. The inks and colors in giclée prints fade more slowly than regular photo paper, and the prints can be made on a wider range of paper weights, textures, & colors.

Limited edition prints vs. Open Edition prints

Limited edition prints are usually original artworks that are limited to a specific number of prints, such as 25, 50, or 100. Once all the prints in a limited edition have sold, the artist cannot print any more for that edition. Limited edition prints are generally more valuable than open edition prints, especially if the edition is small. As the edition sells out, the value of each print increases. Open edition prints, on the other hand, can be reproduced an unlimited number of times. Open edition prints are less likely to increase in value over time, but they are also cheaper to buy.
