Wedding Planning: What Every Bride Needs to Know

"To all my friends who are getting married soon & for those who will in the future, this post is for you!"

YOU MAY REMEMBER KASSIDI FROM THE MATERNITY SESSION I POSTED LAST WEEK.

SHE RECENTLY POSTED THIS ON HER FACEBOOK WALL AND GAVE ME PERMISSION TO RE-POST IT. I THOUGHT IT WAS SO PERFECTLY WORDED, AND IS EXACTLY WHAT I WOULD WANT TO TELL ANY FUTURE BRIDE. THE FOLLOWING WAS WRITTEN BY HER, AND THE PHOTO WAS ALSO TAKEN BY HER:

MY GORGEOUS WEDDING BOUQUET.

When I was planning my wedding, I wanted my bouquet to be very special. I included my Great Grandmothers hanky, vintage pearls from a dear friend, buttons from Grandfathers who were in the Navy, & a locket with pictures of my Grandpa and Scott's Grandma who watched from Heaven. To me, my bouquet was more than just pretty flowers as a wedding accessory—it was a bouquet of memories.

Now, three years later it has traveled with me from Utah to North Carolina and then all the way to Hawaii. But it no longer has the fragrance of freshly cut flowers or the vibrant colors that I had on our wedding day. The flowers have dried up and it now sits untouched on a shelf in our bedroom. But it still is a bouquet of forever memories.

Girls—as you are planning your wedding and getting caught up in the details, remember that your gorgeous bouquet will also dry up. Take in everything that day and hold it forever in your heart, but also realize that it's not about the wedding day that seems like it goes by too quickly—it's about the commitment that you are making & the life long, adventurous marriage you are now starting with your beloved. Strive to not only have memories from your wedding day sitting on a shelf or displayed on the wall, but to have forever memories throughout your marriage.

I promise that having a marriage more beautiful than your wedding is worth it.
Very, very worth it.

Thank you Kassidi for sharing your beautiful thoughts!

Also, I wanted to share this image as well. Each year Scott and Kassidi take a photo on their anniversary holding a photo of the previous year. Such a cute idea! How cool will this be when they reach 50 years of marriage?
